Our men stayed at beautiful Chief Paulina Horse camp, just a short ride from Paulina Lake with great views of Paulina Peak. Rich camaraderie was shared among the men as they experienced lifemanship through horsemanship.
Starting at the 10-mile Snow Park the first day, everybody got to ride into the campground-a great way to start the retreat! The second day was a shorter ride around a nearby obsidian flow. To finish off the retreat, the men went on a long ride from the Paulina Lake Lodge all the way to East Lake! What an amazing group of guys and horses!
The mornings were greeted with breakfasts made from the StirrUp Purpose chuckwagon pros, Bill Baer and Ian Laurenson. In the evenings, the men ate like kings! From a pot roast to delicious pulled pork and amazing pie for dessert, nobody was going hungry. Thank you, Bill and Ian for providing such amazing food for our veterans!
After the first night at Pole Creek Ranch, the couples also got to spend nights at the Sisters Cow Camp and the Whispering Pine Horse Camp. There, they reflected on the day's ride, had great conversation over campfires, and learned new equestrian skills-like roping!
From the first ride at Pole Creek Ranch to the trail rides between camps, everyone had a ton of fun getting to know their horses, each other, and enjoying the beautiful scenery in the Deschutes National Forest
Every day, our couples got fresh, hand-crafted meals from our very own StirrUp Purpose chuckwagon team, Sheri Campbell and Bill Baer. Everything from "Fiesta Fajitas" for dinner to scrambled eggs for breakfast, Bill and Sheri created amazing meals for everybody!
